Ogc Scholarship
We are excited to announce the creation of the OGC Scholarship. Established in 1947, the Oviedo Garden Club (OGC) believes that the future of our community is in the hands of our young people; education is critical to their success as civic leaders and as stewards of our earth. Successful fundraising events have provided the means for our Club to annually award one scholarship to assist a worthy graduating high school senior in the City of Oviedo.
Thank you for your interest in our scholarship! It will be awarded to one high school senior in the City of Oviedo, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, planning to attend a Florida school to pursue a degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or other studies related to our club mission statement: “Our mission is to promote the knowledge of gardening, the importance of community, and to strive toward improving our environment for future generations.”
The OGC Scholarship Committee will review the applications as they are received and may schedule interviews with prospective applicants who fulfill the application requirements. All applicants will be notified of their status in the review process. The application deadline is March 1, and the final selection of the scholarship winner will be made by the Committee in March. The Scholarship will be presented to the winner at the May meeting of the Garden Club.

Thomas is attending Florida State University, where he's majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Political Science. In his letter to our club, he shared: "I feel a calling to environmental law, where I know my voice will be heard. It is with environmental law where I know I can rally groups of like-minded people who will come together and fight for change. Together we are strong."
That's the kind of drive that changes things. We're excited to support him and his ambitions and look forward to seeing the impact his goals will create.

2025 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Alana Blount
Alana is attending the University of Miami to study Marine Biology. We are genuinely excited about her ambitions and look forward to the positive impact her research will have on our understanding and protection of ocean life.
2024 Scholarship Winner
Jensen Miller
Jensen is attending the University of Florida to study Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. After graduating, he intends to pursue postgraduate research to study and gather data on how humans have impacted natural ecosystems.

Who is eligible?
Current seniors in the City of Oviedo who are pursuing degrees or certificates related to Horticulture, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or other related studies, and enrolled in a Florida two-year or four-year college, university, or technical school for the upcoming fall semester.
How many scholarships will be awarded?
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually.
